Ouch!

I learned a lesson while playing tennis with Bryant.........that even though I think I'm young and in decent condition, I'm really not. I thought that I was playing pretty well and so, in my cockiness, I over-played a bit. I landed on the side of my foot and it felt and sounded like I'd broken my ankle.

In the first few moments, all kinds of thoughts ran through my head - I'm going to need surgery and I've never been put under before, I'm going to be in a cast and it's getting warm enough to be swimming, I was finally feeling like exercising and now I can't.......and so on. Those thoughts lasted just a little bit until the pain really hit....OUCH!

I didn't move from where I landed while I waited for Rick to get there - thank goodness Bryant had his cell phone with him. Rick got there and somehow got me to the car (with a bit more drama that I don't want to re-live). We drove back home, got an ice pack and headed to the urgent care.

It took a while at the urgent care and I was in way too much pain, but the end result was that it was just a bad sprain - YAY!! I was so excited that I won't have to be in a cast or have surgery! It's super painful, but at least it's not broken.

My ankle 4 days after the injury. The swelling is down considerably and it's not quite as black and blue.
I'm not sure I'm going to be back on the tennis court any time soon.

Roadshow

When I heard that this year we would be having a roadshow, I was less than excited. But with some great leaders and responsive youth, our roadshow turned out great! All the roadshows had a fairytale theme and our ward drew Snow White. Erin and Bryant were Snow White's kids and they had a great time throughout the whole process.

Erin, Rylee, and Rhett waiting for our ward's turn to perform

Bryant and his friend Tanner

I was able to take some pictures from the front row during the dress rehearsal. During the actual performance, I was too far from the stage. You can tell from the pictures that all the kids had fun with the roadshow.

This is the kind of stunt that I didn't want to see with Bryant in a soft cast.

Bryant was NOT happy to have to wear stage make-up! Erin, on the other hand, was THRILLED to get to wear a princess dress!

Parker's last Disney hoorah

I decided to take Parker out of school for one last trip to Disneyland before our passes expire. It was a perfect day with beautiful weather and short lines. Parker got to go on all his favorite rides and even discovered some new areas in California Adventure. It will be sad to not get to have these adventures once our passes expire.

I don't like big drops, so Parker rode this ride all by himself.

We took a break from the major rides to play in the kids area.........pretty soon Parker will be too big to like doing this.

Bryant's 14th birthday celebration

We have a 14 year old! Our family had a great time celebrating Bryant's birthday this past week!

I always make breakfast for every birthday, but Bryant had to be at school early, so I asked him if donuts would be alright............did I even have to ask?! There's nothing better to Bryant than starting his day with donuts and the sports section of the newspaper!
For dinner, Bryant asked to have barbequed hamburgers - such an easy request to fulfill. We had the Rock family join us for dinner, with dessert, and presents. Bryant's dessert request was a brownie trifle - so rich but SOOOO good!
Bryant only really wanted 1 thing for his birthday, an itouch. We don't buy presents that big, but we did let family and friends know that that was what he wanted, so he received more money than usual to put toward his purchase. Bryant LOVES money!

On Friday, Bryant had some of his friends over for a Napolean Dynamite themed birthday party. We had some games planned but only ended up having the tater tot eating contest. The rest of the time the boys spent playing ping pong and rock band. It ended up being a great party!
