Each year the fourth grade students at Parker's school have to do reports and projects on a famous Californian. Then at open house, they dress up like that character and spend the being interviewed about the character's life.
Parker chose to study the life of Jedediah Smith, a famous explorer. It was a perfect choice for Parker! He especially enjoyed dressing up - what other time can you take a toy rifle and a Bible to school?

One of my favorite units to teach in the 3rd grade was about Famous Americans. It was always so fun to see the kids dressed up and presenting their speeches to the parents. I'm so glad Parker had a chance to do this...and yes a gun and rifle to school is just icing on the cake!
