Since we had taken most of her things up in July, we just had to load up at Rick's parents' house and head over to her dorm in Heritage Halls.

Erin wanted to check in a day early so that she wouldn't have to fight the crowd on the normal check in day - that was the best $15 ever spent! (we got to park right in front of her back door when the next day people could hardly find parking spots. It was soooo crazy)

On the day that everyone else was checking into the dorm, we took Sue and Jerry to our favorite restaurant in Provo, Tucanos. We will never get tired of eating there - it's amazing food!

The reason for our trip to Tucanos was to celebrate Sue's 70th birthday. They made her play the tambourine during the birthday song. Erin's reaction to Sue playing is priceless!

Rick and Erin at our favorite sandwich shop, The Italian Place. This is a newer location and we didn't think the sandwiches came out perfectly, so Rick and I went to the original location the next day. We can never have too much of their "steak and everything" sandwiches!

On Thursday, the student had New Freshmen Student Orientation and we parents also had an orientation. Some of the events were together and some were separate. We had a great time at all the events and even wished we could go back and re-live our college days. It felt like an all day pep rally, complete with BYU Ambassadors, Cougarettes, the marching band, coaches, and athletes.
In the evening, the students and parents were invited to the Marriott Center to see the Tradition of Honor performances (skits and music based on the honor code at BYU). After that, the students all went straight to Lavell Edwards Stadium where they received BYU t-shirts and were seated in a giant "Y" in the stands. They took a class of 2015 picture and then had a rally that even included fireworks! It was a great end to the day.

Rick and I always love just being in the stadium. It makes us wish we could have season tickets to all the football games.

On Friday, Rick and I met up with Erin and her roommate, Sarah, as they walked around finding where all the classes were. Once they had found them, decided it was time for dessert, so we went to the car by way of the BYU Art Museum. They have an incredible exhibit with thousands of books that I wanted to show the girls.
We took Erin and Sarah to a new place Erin discovered this summer, Sub Zero. They let you choose the kind of base (ice cream, yogurt, custard, etc) and your toppings before freezing it with liquid nitrogen. It was quite the experience!
Saturday morning, we picked up Erin and Sarah and took them to breakfast before we had to drive home. It was a sad day leaving Erin, but we know she's in a good place with a great roommate and we couldn't be happier for her.
