Bass Lake Camping Trip

In all the years we've been camping as a family, we've never gone on a trip with Bobby and Kelly and their kids. So this year, with Erin and Brandon graduating, we decided that we'd plan our vacation together since we may not get the chance again.

We booked our campsites in Bass Lake months ahead of time. We had no idea then that both Rick and Bobby would be recovering from surgeries. We were just so grateful that Rick's cardiologist even allowed us to go! The kids stepped up and helped out to ease Rick's work load. Luckily Rick and I had spent time just hours before he ended up in the hospital getting the gear packed in the tubs and Bryant did most of the packing of the van.

After a 6 hour drive, we arrived at Bass Lake. Our kids got right to work setting up the tents. Rick, Erin, and I slept in our enormous tent and the boys slept in a tent with their cousins.

Most of our time was spent on the shore or in the water at Bass Lake. The kids loved swimming and boating in the inflatable rafts while we adults spent most of our time relaxing on the shore.

Chef Rick made the most amazing grilled chicken!

Best way to relax while camping......

Even better with my Nook!

Parker found this skull while looking in the woods for fire wood. Gross!

Rick and I did a little boating, but it wasn't so fun to be the only one really paddling

Typical Erin reading a book

Parker and Elizabeth spent lots of time swimming across part of the lake. They sure got a good workout!

Brandon and Bryant had fun battling each other in their rafts.

Bryant's favorite pose:

We did some fancy taping up of Rick's incision so that he could float in the lake to cool off.

On our last night of camping, we had a campfire by the lake. It is so beautiful at night!
