Yosemite Revisited

Our original plan for vacation this year was to camp in Yosemite Valley. That might have worked out if I had known that the reservation dates were moved up this year and everything was booked. Plan B was to camp at Bass Lake and just go for a day to see the wonders of Yosemite. We ended up going on Sunday and fighting the weekend crowds to see some of our favorite places.

First stop: Glacier Point - no trip to Yosemite is complete without going to this scenic overlook. Here we got to see the whole valley, ate lunch and then tortured the children by taking tons of pictures.

After Glacier Point, we headed down to the valley where finding parking was a little like finding Waldo - hard! We finally parked and walked to the gift shop and then on to Lower Yosemite Falls. Last year, we spent a few hours climbing the rocks and playing in the water here. This year, there was so much water that no one would even dare go in - it was too dangerous. I could barely even take a picture with the spray from the falls being so thick.

Last year Natalie found this fun crevice to climb in, so this year we thought it would make for a great photo op of all the cousins.
The kids all voted to return the next day for more hiking, but after the long windy drive back to the campground, we ended up spending Monday at Bass Lake. Who knows, maybe I'll actually get lucky enough next year to get a camping site in the valley.
